Drifting memories of the ruined Poompugar came back to me while I was moving around the altered coastal line of Mullaitivu, and the prehistoric asteroid, which struck the Planet. Geologists Gary Byerly, Xiaogang Xie, Donald Lowe and Joseph Wooden of Louisiana State and Stanford universities published in the journal SCIENCE about the strike. They had found traces of an asteroid-collision that they said would have created a giant tsunami that swept around the earth several times, inundating everything except the mountains and changed drastically and almost all life on land was exterminated. When the asteroid hit, it was vaporized by the extreme energy of the impact.

Condensation of this vapor produced droplets of melt, called spherules, which dropped into the roiling sea over the next few days and were deposited in layers on the sea floor.

This cataclysm some 3.5 billion years ago is the earliest known meteor to hit the Earth, and one of at least four that have been identified in a geologically brief 300-million-year period.

They identified traces of the event in some of the oldest known rocks on Earth – in South Africa and northwest Australia. It is believed there was even more water covering the surface of the Earth than it is today. It would have taken about 30 hours from impact for the tsunami to travel all the way around the world. Then, of course, it wouldn’t stop, but bounce all the way back till it met itself 30 hours later, then bounce the other way again, setting up a harmonic. The water would likely have inundated everything but the mountains, and drastically eroded the continental landmasses, changing their coastlines dramatically. The heat of the impact would have evaporated the upper 30 to 300 feet of water in the oceans. It would also have killed everything, or almost everything, that was alive at that time on land or near the ocean surface.

The scientists said, “There was almost certainly life at that time. Primitive, bacterial life, and if the impacts were made by a meteor 20 miles in diameter, they would have killed everything on the surface of the Earth. First a hot steam of molten rock and water would have withered most life, and then the massively destructive tsunamis would have destroyed even more. After that, years of incredibly cold winters, caused by particles in the atmosphere blocking out the sun, would have conspired to kill nearly everything else. Anything that survived would have been in deep rocks or below the surface of the Earth”.

Is it possible to get what you want, help the environment, and save money all at the same time? That’s a lot to ask for, but yes it is all possible if you buy select recycled products such as eyewear.

Environmental issues are important today and for future generations.. We all hear buzz words like “global warming”, “ozone layer”, “ice caps melting”, “green house gases”, etc…. The scientific evidence supporting these events has grown to the point that it’s probably accepted by most people as being a part of life and a part of the problems we are facing all over this planet. But we don’t have to just sit there and accept it, and watch it worsen with each passing day; let’s do something about it. Everyone has the power to help the environment and every little bit adds up. How about starting with something as simple as eyewear?

For billions of people on this planet, eyewear is a necessity, and for some it is a luxury. For more than half of the current US population of 300 million, vision correction is a necessity (www.allaboutvision.com). According to the American Sunglass Market 2005 report, 86% of the US population wears sunglasses, some to protect themselves against damaging UV rays, others just to look good. Much of the eyewear being worn today is ultimately discarded. Recycled eyewear is an option that is not radical, but could make a tangible and positive impact on our environment with the added benefit of saving some dollars.

Let’s start with the definition of recycled eyewear. Basically, it’s existing eyewear that is reconditioned (i.e., sterilized, cleaned, repaired, and qualified for resale) and sold rather than sitting in a land fill somewhere for thousands of years. It’s the most energy efficient, cost effective, and environmentally friendly alternative to new eyewear. It’s not eyewear that is reconstructed from existing materials or manufactured from plastics and metals that have been recycled. It is simply the process of taking existing eyewear, reconditioning it, and reusing it.

Brand new eyewear can be incredibly expensive whether you buy from a brick and mortar store, a web based retailer, or whatever other channel you desire. All of these businesses have to sell the product within a reasonable price range of each other, if they could sell it for significantly cheaper prices, market forces would pull in competitors and the overall price of new eyewear would come down dramatically, but this has not happened. The average retail price of a new frame was $126.21 in 2002, according to 20/20 Magazine VisionWatch. Shop around and you will find many frames that are two, three, or more times this price. What are you really paying for? Well, brands and styles for starters, but beyond that it’s all pretty much the same plastic and metal. If you are a high earner with good health care benefits, you may not care. However, for the low-to- middle income families out there, this could be a big dip into the bank account. On the other hand, recycled eyewear is available at prices that are up to 90% below the best prices you can find for brand new product. If you don’t believe me, visit Equation, LLC at www.equationLLC.com and you’ll see for yourself.

Our emotional well being is a big driving force when it comes to shopping. We all want to have the ability to accessorize and purchase different styles and colors of prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses, but who can realistically afford this? The answer is very few. Recycled eyewear opens this luxury to the other 99% of the population that has the desire but not the disposable income. Be happy; get the eyewear you want, and help the planet!

Now let’s focus on the environment and the impact you can make by purchasing recycled sunglasses, recycled reading glasses, and recycled eyeglass frames. The manufacturing of eyewear involves several steps, all of which require energy in the form of electricity. The biggest energy consuming step is the process of machining components, machining molds, and injection molding components. The parts then need to be assembled and the complete eyewear needs to be cleaned and tested. Now, if recycled plastics and metals are used, they still need to be melted down and then inserted into the process I just mentioned, so that scenario may reduce land fill waste, but it increases other forms of pollution. All of these steps require machines and lights to be running on electricity and as we all know, when electricity is made, pollution is released into the environment which then leads to the many environmental problems we hear about everyday. Fully recycled eyewear consumes little to no additional energy or electricity and therefore does not contribute to pollution and the environmental problems we are facing.

Recycled eyewear is the only alternative for those who want to save money, satisfy their emotional desire to accessorize, and help the environment. Virtually no energy is required to recycle eyewear and the savings can be hundreds of dollars per person. Companies such as Equation, LLC are leading the charge and you could be the beneficiary. Visit www.equationLLC.com for a wide selection of recycled eyewear.

Hoodia is a plant that is grown in the Southern part of Africa and is commonly taken a weight loss supplement as hoodia is thought to have the properties of a natural appetite suppressant. One of the biggest problems relating to hoodia as a weight loss supplement is the fact that it is easy to get ripped-off when buying hoodia as a weight loss supplement. There are now many websites selling what claims to be hoodia when in fact the product actually contains very little genuine hoodia and more other products.

One of the ways to determine the quality of the product and if it is in fact 100% hoodia is the price, if the product is all natural hoodia then this will reflect in the amount you are asked to pay for the product. Products which contain 100% hoodia are very expensive. If the website is offering the product for a very low cost and are claiming that it can work miracles then you are more than likely getting ripped off. On average the cost of 1 ounce of hoodia is $40.

Does it work?

Considering that hoodia is expensive, how effective is it actually as a diet aid? Does it work? Research has shown that around 65% of the people who have tried hoodia as a weight loss supplement have reported that it does work. It is thought that those who have reported bad results from taking the product have in fact bought a low quality product that contains very little hoodia.

Side effects from taking the product have been in question, but hoodia is thought to be as safe as any other appetite suppressant currently on the market. The most common symptoms and side effects to taking any appetite depressant are low blood pressure; a faster beating heart rate and it can cause a raise in the blood pressure.

Hoodia should never be taken by anyone under the age of 18 and by pregnant women and those who are breast-feeding; hoodia is available in capsule form and is also available in liquid form for those who have problems with taking pills. In most cases where there have been reports of side effects it is thought that the side effects have been caused by purchasing low quality products that contain other filler products or less desirable appetite suppressants and it these other herbs and ingredients that have an adverse reaction not the hoodia.

The amount of hoodia that you should take varies and as such there is no set dose. Some say that 1500mg controls their appetite successfully while others have to take as much as 3000mg in order to successfully control their appetite. Manufacturers of the product will give their recommended dosage on the product and this will be clearly labelled, some say two capsules three times a day, while others say while others say that only one or two capsules are needed, this of course will depend on the strength of the hoodia contained within the product.

As with any form of herbal remedy if you are thinking of taking any herbal product then always ask your doctor first.

Talented young smooth jazz saxophonist Eric Darius has released his latest CD entitled Just Getting Started.

I’m very confident Eric Darius fans, and smooth jazz fans alike will be pleased with this one. With the release of Just Getting Started the young and extremely talented Darius’s artistic excellence is on full display as he has delivered a brilliant collection of tracks.

Just Getting Started is Darius’s second major label release in as many years, and is a very soulful CD that’s part funk, part smooth jazz, all nice, and balanced just right.

The CD launches with a great track, Steppin’ Up, that will definitely be heard on smooth jazz radio stations everywhere, and deservedly so. From there Darius proceeds to display why he is destined to be a top artist in the smooth jazz category. Displaying what is becoming his own signature, funky style throughout the CD.

Contributors on the project includes an amazing line up of smooth jazz and music industry heavy hitters. Names like Jeff Lorber on several tracks, Paul Brown, Euge Groove, and the incomparable Brian Culbertson. Plus a few other notables as well.

Overall Just Getting Started is an excellent contribution by the young and clearly very talented Darius and would be a great addition to your smooth jazz collection. It’s quite simply a very entertaining CD.

While this entire CD is outstanding the truly standout tunes and SmoothJazz247.com favorites are Lover’s Paradise [track 2], Right Here, Right Now [track 6], and It’s Alright With Me [track 9]. My SmoothLee Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 10, Can’t Let Go. Very nice!

There are many different ways and means to prevent excessive sweating, but not all of them will work for everyone. Hence the reason why there are literally so many thousands of treatments and remedies to prevent excessive sweating.

The trick is to finding the right preventative method for you. And the key to that lies in knowing your body. Knowing what your sweating triggers are, knowing what conditions lessens your sweat, and what conditions makes your stop altogether.

For starters, here are 11 conventional tips to deal with sweating concerns.

1) Drink plenty of water throughout the day & have some handy all the time when possible.

2) Wear proper clothing especially during hot and humid weather conditions. Cotton is best. Avoid heavy fabrics, synthetics and silk.

3) Do not wear tight clothing.

4) Practice proper hygiene with daily bathing and the wearing of clean undergarments.

5) Skip spicy foods, garlic, smelly fish and even red meats unless you know you’ll be in your home environment and not offending anyone. Men note: mustaches can capture and hold strong odors like garlic, so wash those mustaches after eating when you brush your teeth.

6) Take cold showers.

7) Check with your doctor and pharmacist for medications and over the counter products for sweating, odors, stain removal and handling hot flashes.

8) Practice regular de-stressing techniques: bubble baths, soothing music, scented candles, inspirational books, etc.

9) Use a fan or air conditioning to help cool down.

10) Snack on healthy cool snacks: ice milk or sherbet, cool lemonade.

11) Experiment with different deodorants and antiperspirants.

There are of course, other ways to prevent sweating which doesn’t make use of commercially available antiperspirants and deodorants. Some people find that the chemical substances and compounds to be found in these products are not to their taste and prefer the use of something closer to nature, such as a crystal rock deodorant.

These deodorants are supposed to work wonders, and although they don’t prevent sweating per se, it does help to eliminate the odor causing bacteria which gives your sweat that stale odor. If you only sweat moderately, and want to only get rid of the odor, then these crystal deodorants are just the thing for you.

Not everyone can use the same product for years without the body beginning to build up some type of immunity against it. This is one good reason to rotate your antiperspirants and deodorants. It not only keeps your body on its toes, but it also gives it a much needed change.

How many times have you sat down on a sofa, and realized that the coffee table was out of place with the rest of the patio furniture? That it was either too high to be comfortable, too low, too small, width or length wise, or perhaps too large. Finding a coffee table that really works is not the easiest thing to do. In fact, it’s one of the most difficult pieces of furniture to fit into your patio furniture décor, and quite often ends up being the most important piece.

There is no right standard for the table choices within your patio furniture décor, there isn’t a standard height, width, or length when it comes to coffee tables. It’s a matter of finding the one that works for you. However, there are tons of ways to get it wrong. It doesn’t matter whether you are getting an outdoor coffee table or getting a coffee table to suit your living room, there are some serious do’s when it comes to selecting patio furniture. First, check the room’s dimensions or the dimension of your patio space.

Coffee tables are designed to be the centerpiece of your patio furniture arrangement so keep that in mind. An outdoor coffee table is no different, you’re going to want to cluster a seating design around it and you’re going to want to make sure there is enough room to move around your patio furniture while not detracting from the space. Small space, small outdoor coffee table; large space, large outdoor coffee table. Don’t turn your patio furniture pieces into a place to store things – that isn’t the point of your outdoor patio furniture.

An outdoor coffee table is designed to bring attention to your patio furniture or outdoor room, so your outdoor coffee table should have something attractive placed on it, if you feel you need to decorate on it. When purchasing your patio furniture, keep in mind what it’s going to be used for. An outdoor coffee table should be some place that can be used to place drinks and perhaps small plates of snacks. Your coffee table shouldn’t be your dining table, so don’t have it too high. It is not a Japanese style table, you don’t want your patio furniture to be an ankle biter. Take a little time and figure out exactly what you need in your patio furniture before you invest the money in a product you might not be happy with.

The Atkins Low Carb Diet is based on eating very few carbs (especially during phase 1), and we believe that it’s one of the strictest weight loss plans on the market, and it’s probably one of the hardest to follow low carb programs ever created.

There is no mistaking this program for anything other than an extremely strict low carb plan which will sap your energy very quickly, since it only allows 80 carb calories per day during the first phase. That’s less carbs than you’ll find in a decent sized apple.

This program is not for the faint of heart.

What about the South Beach Diet?

The South Beach diet is also a fairly strict low carb program (during the first phase), though perhaps not quite as strict as the Atkins program. …But we also believe that the South Beach plan is too strict to be practical for everyday dieters, since it’s no picnic either — and it has the potential to sap your energy during phase 1 with the severely reduced carbs.

For example, we’ve observed that the higher carb foods (on the South Beach menu) are severely limited in portions during the first phase of the diet — and this prevents a normal amount of carbs from being eaten during the first phase.

In fact, the only foods which dieters are allowed to eat in “unlimited portions” (during phase 1) are protein foods and super-low-calorie vegetables.

For example, the South Beach menu allows unlimited lettuce during phase 1 — but yet it limits the portions of “tomatoes” and “onions” and “peanuts”.

Additionally, the “sweet snacks” which are allowed on the South Beach menu are limited to a mere 75 calories per day during phase 1.

Can you believe that? Only 75 calories of sweet snacks per day? That’s almost ridiculous.

So although the South Beach plan allows so-called “sweet snacks” — they are limited to just 75 calories per day (that’s less calories than a typical cookie contains).

So although the South Beach program is not as strict as the Atkins diet, it’s our opinion that both diets are fairly strict — and we believe that both are difficult to follow for average dieters.

Plus, both diets seem to have no “end” in sight — since both the Atkins plan and the South Beach diet never allow dieters to return to a normal carb lifestyle (where carbs don’t have to be closely watched).

These 2 diets do gradually allow more and more carbs to be eaten as time goes by of course, but even after 6 months dieters are still told to watch their carb intake to some degree each day.

So it’s a major lifestyle change which is required by these diets, and many dieters will find it difficult to never be able to enjoy carb filled restaurant meals which can be eaten completely “as served”.

So overall we think that both diets are not very practical for average dieters, since we believe that most people will find it difficult to modify their entire lifestyle forever. We therefore strongly recommend against using the South Beach and Atkins programs.

End of Review.

We’ve created a new Fat Burning Diet which is called the Idiot Proof Diet, and it has no limits on portions (it also allows 3 cheat days every 11 days where anything can be eaten).

Thousands of people are losing weight each week using this new diet.

Richly talented and largely popular Pop artist Josh Groban has released his latest CD titled Awake and Wow! It’s good.

I wish it weren’t the case but, it’s not everyday that I get a CD from an artist that I can just pop in and comfortably listen to from beginning to end. There is usually a song or two that I just can’t force myself to get through. Not at all the case with Awake. Every track is enjoyable and was pretty easy for me to listen to from start to finish.

Awake is a nicely varied, mix of 13 tracks that are very well written songs by this clearly superb artist. Most of the songs display a lot of the kind emotion that makes for a really great listen. Seemingly drawing from what I can only imagine are his own real life experiences. At different points touching on the most real emotions of love, heartbreak, pain, failed relationships and unattainable romance. They’re all here.

This CD literally grabs your attention right from the start with the very first track and does not let up until the very last note of the very last track, Machine. Which by the way is a very nice track done with long time superstar Herbie Hancock.

The nice thing about a CD like this is with this level of talent even if Pop isn’t your favorite style you still can’t help but appreciate the greatness of the artist.

I give Awake my highest recommendation. It just plain belongs in any serious music collectors collection regardless of genre preference.

While this entire album is really very good a few of my favorites are track 2 – You Are Loved, track 6 – So She Dances and track 7 – In Her Eyes.

My SmoothLee Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 4, February Song. This is a great track!

Awake Release Notes:

Josh Groban originally released Awake on Nov 07, 2006 on the Reprise label.

CD Track List Follows:

1. Mai 2. You Are Loved (Don’t Give Up) 3. Un Dia Llegara 4. February Song 5. L’Ultima Notte 6. So She Dances 7. In Her Eyes 8. Solo Por Ti 9. Now Or Never 10. Un Giorno Per Noi 11. Lullaby – (with Ladysmith Black Mambazo) 12. Weeping – (with Ladysmith Black Mambazo) 13. Machine – (with Herbie Hancock)

Personnel include: Josh Groban; Michael Thompson , Tim Pierce (guitar); Sean Hurley (keyboards); Nathan East (bass guitar); Matt Chamberlain, Vinnie Colaiuta (drums); Marius De Vries (programming); Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Recording information: 2006.

Electronics such as MP4 players are so hot, and still are, for almost a decade now. Tons of brands and designs have sprung up everywhere that choosing the best is like searching for a needle in a hay stack. Most people choose for style and utility. Others look for the best deals for their online and offline electronics store. Well, for the latter, look no further. This lens is for all of you who had been scouring the Web for wholesale MP4 and MP3 players. And where do you find the best wholesale deals for MP4 and MP3 players? China – the world’s largest electronics factory.

The Joy of Having MP3 or MP4 Players

Don’t you just love listening to your favorite jive anywhere? MP3 and MP4 players are useful accessories for audiophiles. Gone are the days when people carry portable cassette players on their shoulders, bouncing to their favorite upbeat tunes or fiddle around with their rather bulky walkmans. Today, thanks to digital technology, people carry around huge collections of their favorite tunes in a single compact digital device that we now know as MP3 players. With the advent of the more sophisticated MP4 players, we now also carry around with us our favorite movies.

Do MP4 and MP3 Players Have to be Expensive?

No, they don’t. Thanks to China’s low-cost but highly efficient labor market, MP3 and MP4 players can now be bought at wholesale at incredibly LOW, low prices without compromising quality and reliability. (I bought a couple of these last year and they are still in prime shape today.)

What to Look for an MP4 or an MP3 Player

Audio quality – Digital quality with superb highs and lows and clarity of vocal frequency really counts. So, whether you’re into Hip Hop, blues, metal or classical, you won’t be disappointed with the near CD quality of the sounds you’d love to hear.

Versatility – Functions such as digital equalizer, repeat, FM receiver, shuffle, lyrics display are a plus.

User-friendly – Basically, with all the digital functions integrated into most MP4 and MP3 players, you shouldn’t have any difficulties in navigating through all these functions.

Reliability – You also shouldn‘t have any trouble with battery life and the product’s durability. Mine is now over a year old but still works as well as it was when it was new.

Design – Your MP4 or MP3 player shouldn’t be too bulky as a brick and should have a smooth curve design for ease of handling. Where to Look for the Best Wholesale MP4 and MP3 Players Whether you are a merchandiser searching for the holy grail of all wholesale electronics products or just looking around for the latest and cheap MP4 or MP3 player that’s right for your budget, the best place to start looking is China. You wouldn’t believe how incredibly low-priced their wholesale MP3 and MP4 players are. Best of all, these are all available with no minimum order quantity.
